Construction Diary

Our construction diary is divided into 3 different galleries...

Renovating the Goods Shed

Renovations on the Railway Goods Shed began in April 2005. Completion was envisaged for sometime in June or July. Renovations often become more complex than initially expected and this was no exception. The 125 year old building required a great deal of restoration before the brewery could be installed.

Spend a penny...
(or ‘Diary of a toilet’ ... how about ‘A day in the life’ ?)

Toilets inside the brewery may have been convenient, but as the Railway Goods Shed is a heritage listed building the practicalities of construction would have been a nightmare to complete.
Luckily for us as part of the redevelopment for the wharf, the Alexandrina Council came to the rescue by building a completely new set of toilets opposite the brewery.
The new toilets have been designed to appear like a beached barge...

Building a Brewery

The process of building the brewery began in 2003 and included the construction of a pilot rig at Bethany Wines in the Barossa Valley.
While the brewery has involved a great deal of planning and paperwork, one of the most exciting aspects has been the purchase and installation of a mill and gleaming 22 Hectolitre brew house and a bottling line.
The renovated shed has seen on going internal construction over the last few months, but the bar and brew house are now nearing completion.
